Betsy is a kind and knowledgeable yoga instructor. They offer hands-on assistance and cues which help students get the most out of the practice. They are easy to hear and understand. They lead us into long savasanas which are very relaxing. I always look forward to their classes. The other students and I are happy that they joined our yoga studio. They are definitely an asset!

Yene Yoga is the creation of Betsy Woldeyohannes, an Ethiopian-American resident of Rochester, NY. Born in Houston, Texas, Betsy has lived in the Greater Rochester Area for the majority of their life and is committed to fostering wellness and giving back to their community through yoga.

@yessyoga is a yoga studio located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, just one block from where Alex Pretti was murdered and 2 miles from where Renée Good was murdered. At the epicenter of violence and grief, this studio has remained open as a safe haven for their community, providing shelter, supplies, injury treatment, and spiritual and physical care for free or reduced costs. In order to support this work, Yess Yoga has started a GoFundMe seeking $16,000; they have already raised 89% of their goal and need just $2,000 more.

Dear friends,

As much as we need spaces to come together and to heal, I have decided to cancel this Friday's event, Decompress & Reconnect Restorative Yoga at Bookeater, to stand in solidarity against ICE presence in our communities.

There is no place for terror here, but there are also many different ways to stand up. @bookeaterroc will remain open and will donate a portion of their sales to a local organization in Minnesota fighting against ICE presence. I appreciate the support of Bookeater in this struggle and thank them for respecting my decision to withhold my labor.

Instead of my event, I encourage folks to attend the Community Wake held Friday, January 30th from 6pm-8pm at Baber A.M.E. (550 Meigs St, Rochester, NY 14607) to honor those who have lost their lives due to the violence of ICE.

Good morning, everyone!

I arrived in Albuquerque late last night, the stillness of the cool desert air immediately inviting my limbs to rest. There are few places so moving (or holding histories as heavy) as this landscape of yellows and reds. Each time that I return, I am reminded of the expansiveness of our existence, of the profundity of a single etched stone resting beneath a horizon that stretches hundreds of miles before the eyes.

I look forward to returning home bearing the peace and wholeness of heart that being here, surrounded by loved ones, brings. Until then, please remember that I will not be leading any classes this week -- the Yene Yoga regular schedule will return Tuesday, 12/16.

Proud to announce that I have officially taught 100 hours of yoga ! I am beyond blessed for the opportunities that I have been given to grow, connect, and share over this past year, and I am especially thankful for the incredible students and mentors who have guided me along the way.
